Regular calls for the EU Innovation Fund Heat Auction with a larger budget are urged by eight organisations in an open letter to the European Commission. The EU launched in 2025 a €1 billion pilot to accelerate decarbonisation of industrial process heat, funded by revenues from the Emissions Trading System. With a tight timeline to develop and launch the Auction, many firms did not participate. The letter argues for a regular, higher-budget call to drive meaningful decarbonisation across Europe, potentially via the forthcoming EU electrification action plan, expected in June.
