Spain, Portugal, and Morocco signed a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen judicial cooperation in preparation for the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The agreement, covering 2026-2030 and applicable from today, includes seven areas of cooperation such as mutual legal assistance, coordination of central authorities, digital justice, and cybercrime fighting. The ministers met in Rabat for the first trilateral talks among the organizing countries. Spain will be the main host with 11 stadiums, Morocco 6, and Portugal 3. The MoU builds on prior bilateral declarations signed in 2025 and aims to solidify trust and facilitate rapid, secure exchanges of judicial documents during the tournament. Bolaños noted Spain’s role as a bridge between Morocco and the EU and highlighted the importance of leveraging the trilateral relationship to address World Cup-related challenges. The event included a gala dinner with attendees from all three countries and involved a visit to the Mausoleum of Mohamed V.
