European Commission proposed Environmental Omnibus to simplify environmental law; a coalition of signatories expresses concern about suspending the mandatory role of Authorised Representatives for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) under Regulations 2025/0396 and 2025/0395. They urge EU co-legislators to remove the suspension through 2035 and ask the Commission to refine the EPR framework within the Circular Economy Act. The signatories warn that without an Authorised Representative in each Member State, enforcement will weaken, non-compliance will rise, and funding for waste management could shrink. They emphasize that Authorised Representatives connect non-established producers with national authorities, support traceability, and help prevent non-compliant products from entering the EU market. They propose addressing the framework comprehensively in the Circular Economy Act, while continuing to pursue effective enforcement and a level playing field. They invite membership in the network shaping Europe’s circular economy.
