The European Commission has issued a corrigendum postponing the application date of Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/169, which categorises infection with bluetongue virus (serotypes 1-24) as a listed disease. The corrigendum, published on 10 July 2026, moves the application date from 15 July 2026 to 1 November 2026.

The original Regulation was adopted on 26 January 2026 and published in the Official Journal on 27 January 2026. It amends the Annex to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/1882 concerning the categorisation of listed diseases. The corrigendum, issued in Brussels as document C(2026) 5026 final, corrects the second subparagraph of Article 2, changing the application date to 1 November 2026.

The postponement gives member states and stakeholders additional time to prepare for the new categorisation rules. Bluetongue is a viral disease affecting ruminants, and its categorisation determines surveillance, control, and eradication measures. The delay may ease implementation burdens for national veterinary authorities and livestock producers, but also prolongs the period during which the disease is not fully covered by the updated regulatory framework.
