The EU Delegation to Kuwait organised a high-level roundtable seminar on 21 June 2026, bringing together European experts and Kuwaiti officials to advance cooperation on clean energy and support Kuwait's Vision 2035 and carbon neutrality by 2060. The event, held at the EU Residence, focused on structural shifts in Kuwait's energy sector and the role of EU expertise in oil and gas operations, renewable energy projects, and policy advisory roles.

In her opening speech, EU Ambassador to Kuwait Anne Koistinen emphasised that European experts have worked alongside Kuwaiti counterparts for decades and highlighted the success of the EU-Kuwait Green Transition Forum held in February 2026 under the patronage of Kuwaiti Minister of Electricity, Water & Renewable Energy Dr. Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem. She also announced plans to launch negotiations on an EU-Kuwait Strategic Partnership Agreement soon, which would provide a formal institutional framework for collaboration with a strong focus on the energy sector.

Engineer Dina Al-Nakib, Senior Director of Research & Technology Deployment at the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science (KFAS), moderated the discussions and noted that participants emphasised operational excellence, infrastructure readiness, technology deployment, regulatory and investment frameworks, capacity building, and institutionalised knowledge transfer. The seminar underscored the shared commitment to building a diversified, sustainable energy system through innovation and expertise exchange.

Speakers noted that the EU has achieved a landmark milestone where renewable energy now generates more electricity across the bloc than fossil fuels, making its experience directly applicable to Kuwait's clean energy ambitions. The EU pledged continued cooperation with Kuwait on the green transition. Attendees included diplomats, energy executives from public and private sectors, and technical experts, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), KFAS, and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC).
