The Council of the European Union has transmitted a corrigendum to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2026/131, correcting the entry into force date for the EU's pet travel animal health rules. The correction, published on 22 July 2026, changes the effective date from twenty days after publication in the Official Journal to the day following publication, accelerating the application of the regulation.
The corrigendum amends Article 33 of the Commission Delegated Regulation of 20 January 2026, which supplements Regulation (EU) 2016/429 on animal health requirements for non-commercial movements of pet animals. The original text had set a standard twenty-day delay before the rules would take effect, but the correction now ensures they apply immediately upon publication.
