BASF announced the official launch of three world-scale production facilities: menthol and linalool at Ludwigshafen, Germany, and citral at Zhanjiang, China. The Ludwigshafen expansion integrates new downstream capacities into BASF’s Verbund site, leveraging existing resources and technologies. The citral plant in Zhanjiang will supply both local and downstream markets for fragrance and flavor products, supporting growth in key regions. Groundbreaking for the three sites was completed in 2023, with production beginning in early 2026 and products available by April 2026. The Ludwigshafen investment is in the triple-digit million-euro range and has created 60 new jobs.

Company executives highlighted the Verbund advantage, improved supply reliability, and progress toward sustainability goals.
