Körner's question suggests a critical stance, potentially seeking to highlight regulatory burden or lack of tangible environmental gains. The Commission is expected to reply within approximately six weeks, and its answer will signal whether it considers the rule a success or is open to revision.
The rule impacts beverage producers, who had to redesign caps, and consumers, who may find the tethered caps inconvenient. Environmental groups generally supported the measure as a step to reduce plastic pollution, while industry raised concerns about production costs and usability.
