Laura Welling, who holds a Master of Science in Economics, has been appointed the new head of Finanssiala ry, succeeding the retiring Taina Ahvenjärvi. Welling will start on 1 September 2026. Before moving to FA, she worked as a Deloitte partner and at Danske Bank. She notes nearly two decades in banking and says the sector is very familiar to her, while also anticipating new topics in payments that she has not previously worked with, expressing enthusiasm to learn and deepen her expertise. She has previously collaborated with Nordic financial regulators and anti-money-laundering centers and has led international expert teams. At FA she will be part of the management team. FA’s CEO Arno Ahosniemi warmly welcomes her, calling Welling an experienced and capable finance professional who will be an important part of FA’s leadership.
