The European Union has strongly condemned the latest wave of Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia and Government-controlled areas in Yemen, including strikes on civilian infrastructure in the Najran region and Marib city that have resulted in casualties. In a statement issued on 7 August 2026, the EEAS expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and the Government of Yemen, conveyed condolences to the families of the victims, and called on the Houthis to immediately cease all attacks inside and outside Yemen. The EU said the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure is unacceptable and must stop, warning that the attacks constitute a dangerous escalation that undermines regional stability and risks jeopardising ongoing efforts towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
