On 2 July 2026, the European Commission adopted a Delegated Regulation updating the list of selected cross-border renewable energy projects under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), adding three new projects and removing one. The amendment modifies Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/2202, which has been updated annually since its adoption. The three new projects—covering geothermal, onshore wind, and solar photovoltaic technologies—were selected from a call for proposals that ran from 2 September 2025 to 5 February 2026. The withdrawn project was removed due to significant challenges and uncertainties in its current cross-border configuration, as identified in the annual progress report. The updated list was agreed by the Expert Group for renewable energy cross-border projects on 16 April 2026. Projects on the list are eligible to apply for CEF funding, which supports trans-European energy infrastructure. The regulation will enter into force on the 20th day after its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. This update continues the Commission's annual cycle of refining the project pipeline to align with EU renewable energy targets and infrastructure needs.
