Erwin Van Lambaart, CEO of Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries, has been elected Chairman of the European Casino Association (ECA) at its General Assembly on 7 February 2023. Van Lambaart, who joined Casinos Austria in March 2022, brings extensive experience in hospitality, entertainment, and gaming to the role. He was unanimously appointed by the ECA's Board of Directors.
Van Lambaart's election comes amid a broader EU regulatory landscape that includes recent developments from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) on pharmaceutical and clinical trial guidelines, though these are not directly related to the casino industry. The ECA, representing licensed casino operators in Europe, advocates for responsible gaming standards and against illegal gambling. Van Lambaart's leadership is expected to continue these efforts, building on his track record at Holland Casinos NV, where he served as CEO from 2016 to 2022. He was awarded a Knighthood in the Order of Orange Nassau in 2016 for his contributions to live entertainment and charitable work.
