Dr. Jonathan Mantikayan, Executive Director of the Bangsamoro Information and Communications Technology Office (BICTO), participated in a five-day Cybersecurity Summer School in Tallinn, Estonia from June 15 to 19, 2026, supported by the European Union through its Global Gateway Strategy. The training, organised by the EU, aimed to strengthen digital governance and critical infrastructure in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The summer school provided expert-led sessions on advanced cybersecurity frameworks, artificial intelligence policies, and international digital standards, including hands-on simulations to refine institutional responses to cyber threats. The program also facilitated networking with global tech leaders, diplomats, and policymakers.

The EU has consistently supported development in BARMM since its founding in 2019, focusing on ICT policy frameworks that promote digital transformation, interoperability, and democratic governance. This initiative aligns with the EU's broader commitment to enhancing digital resilience and governance in partner regions.
