The European Medicines Agency's Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products (HMPC) adopted a revised monograph on Fragariae folium (strawberry leaf) during its meeting of 4-6 May 2026, while postponing decisions on monographs for Arnicae flos and Species diureticae. The meeting, chaired by Carmen Purdel with Olga Maria Palomino as vice-chair, also advanced work on guidelines and reflection papers for herbal medicinal products.

The committee adopted the revised monograph on Fragariae folium along with supporting documents, finalising the update. In contrast, the monographs on Arnicae flos and Species diureticae were postponed and will be addressed at a future meeting. For public consultation, the committee released a revised monograph on Lecithinum ex soya (soya lecithin), while the monograph on Matricariae aetheroleum (chamomile oil) was postponed.

Under post-finalisation activities, the committee discussed the monograph on Hyperici herba (St John's wort) and Cimicifugae rhizoma (black cohosh), though no final decision was recorded. The committee also appointed rapporteurs and peer-reviewers for ongoing assessments and noted unscheduled reviews for Primulae radix and a combination of Primulae radix with Thymi herba.

In the guidelines section, the committee reviewed the guideline on genotoxicity assessment of herbal substances (EMEA/HMPC/107079/2007) and two reflection papers: one on data recommendations for paediatric herbal medicinal products (EMA/HMPC/71333/2023) and another on borderline issues between herbal medicinal products and other categories (EMA/HMPC/224438/2024). Reports from the ORGAM and Quality Drafting Groups were also presented.

The meeting had no referral procedures under discussion. The minutes were adopted on 8 July 2026 and published on 17 July 2026.
