The Delegation of the European Union to Argentina, in collaboration with the Buenos Aires Theatre Complex, embassies of participating countries and the Metropolitan School of Dramatic Art (EMAD), is presenting the second edition of the cycle "Diálogos teatrales. Dramaturgia de la Unión Europea, escena Argentina" from 14 to 17 July 2026. The event, announced in a press release on 24 June 2026, features semi-staged performances of five contemporary plays from Austria, Slovenia, Ireland, Poland and Sweden, directed by local artists, followed by moderated Q&A sessions with the public.
The cycle aims to foster artistic exchange between European dramaturgy and the Argentine theatre scene. Participating international playwrights include Anna Wakulik (Poland, "La sentencia") and Miriam Unterthiner (Austria, "Mundtot - Calladita la boca"), who will share experiences with local teams. The programme includes: Tuesday 14 July at 19:00, "La sentencia" by Anna Wakulik, directed by Jorge Thefs, with Q&A moderated by Camila Mansilla; Wednesday 15 July at 19:00, "Glow up" by Sandra Beijer (Sweden), directed by Ezequiel Sagasti, Q&A moderated by Andrea Marrazzi; Thursday 16 July at 19:00, "Mundtot - Calladita la boca" by Miriam Unterthiner, directed by Julieta Abriola, Q&A moderated by Alcira Serna; Thursday 16 July at 21:00, "Pegamento" by Robbie O'Connor (Ireland), directed by Juan Andrés Romanazzi, Q&A moderated by Araceli Arreche; Friday 17 July at 19:00, "Bellas vidas, bellas llamas" by Simona Semenič (Slovenia), directed by Melisa Hermida, Q&A moderated by Carla Llopis. All performances take place at the Cunill Cabanellas Hall of the Teatro San Martín (Av. Corrientes 1530, Buenos Aires). Admission is free, with tickets available at the box office from two hours before each show, maximum two per person.
In addition to the performances, the cycle includes meetings on contemporary dramaturgy and translation and adaptation processes at EMAD, aimed at the school's students. The event is organised by the EU Delegation in Argentina, the Buenos Aires Theatre Complex and EMAD, with support from the embassies of Austria, Slovenia, Ireland, Poland and Sweden. This second edition builds on the first edition held in 2025, which similarly brought European playwrights together with Argentine directors and audiences, reinforcing cultural cooperation between the EU and Argentina.
