Athens will host a high-level meeting on April 30, 2026 at the Eugenides Foundation to discuss the implementation of the European Industrial Maritime Strategy and the European Ports Strategy. European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas and Greek Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy Vassilis Kikilias will give keynote speeches. The event, organized by the Waterborne Technology Platform in cooperation with the Eugenides Foundation under the auspices of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, will bring together industry, shipping, ports, research and policymaking across Europe to discuss innovation, competitiveness and skills. The conference will present the Maritime Industry and Ports strategies, with sessions on short sea shipping, passenger vessels and insularity, maritime technology, port ecosystems, and training for quality jobs. The Waterborne community is advancing nine Technology Roadmaps setting priorities for research, development and innovation across sectors such as ports, shipbuilding, equipment manufacturing, ferries, short sea shipping, cruise, offshore and the blue economy. The programme will be announced in coming days. The Waterborne Technology Platform coordinates the private side of the Partnership on Zero-Emission Waterborne Transport with the European Commission since 2021. The Waterborne TP has 130 members from 19 EU Member States and four associated European countries. The Eugenides Foundation has been a Waterborne member since 2024 and is an institutional partner of the Ministry for the blue economy and sea-related skills development.
