The decision, triggered by a request from 247 Members of the European Parliament, follows a letter from the APPF dated 22 May 2026 raising doubts about the party's compliance. The Parliament instructs its President to forward the decision to the APPF, and for information, to the Council and the Commission. This procedural step initiates a formal compliance verification process that could lead to consequences for the ESN Party, including potential loss of its status as a European political party and associated funding if found non-compliant. The decision reinforces the enforcement mechanism of EU values and registration conditions for European political parties, demonstrating the Parliament's role in upholding the regulatory framework. The outcome may set a precedent for future compliance assessments of European political parties regarding their adherence to fundamental EU values.
