A notice of meeting published by the Council of the European Union on 24 June 2026 schedules a meeting of the Working Party on Animals and Veterinary Questions (Chief Veterinary Officers) for 6 and 7 July 2026 in Brussels. The sessions will start at 14:30 on the first day and 10:00 on the second.

The provisional agenda includes presentations and exchanges of views on several topics. The Irish Presidency will present its work programme. A Presidency presentation on risk communication will be followed by an exchange of views. Similarly, the Presidency will present on biological threats, with delegations invited to discuss. Updates from the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) will be provided by the Presidency and a member of the WOAH Governance Review Committee, followed by an exchange of views. The European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (EuFMD) will also be discussed, with the Presidency providing information and an exchange of views to follow. The agenda includes any other business.

Delegations are required to register their presence via the Delegates Portal, where Council documents are available. The meeting brings together chief veterinary officers from EU member states to coordinate on animal health and veterinary policy under the Irish Presidency.
