The European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in partnership with the Post-Conflict Research Centre, has opened applications for the fourth State of Peace Youth Academy, a fully funded two-week programme running from 31 July to 13 August 2026. The academy targets young people aged 18 to 30 from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, and Serbia, offering workshops, site visits, and cultural events across six cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a focus on peacebuilding, transitional justice, and regional cooperation.
Participants will engage with decision-makers, civil society activists, and reconciliation experts, and take part in activities including workshops on activism, human rights, and interreligious dialogue, as well as film screenings, theatre performances, and meetings with government officials and EU representatives. The programme covers travel, accommodation, meals, and materials. Applications must be submitted by 22 July 2026 at 23:59 CET via the provided form to events.pcrc@gmail.com. The academy is open to citizens of the four listed countries, and applicants must commit to the full 14-day programme, which includes travel across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The initiative, now in its fourth edition, aims to build skills and mutual understanding among youth from the Western Balkans, supporting long-term reconciliation in a region still marked by the legacy of conflict. No prior coverage of this specific call exists in the available context.
