Invest Europe published the seventh edition of Private Equity at Work, a report tracking employment and job creation across Europe. The study indicates private equity- and venture capital-backed companies added 295,312 net jobs in 2024, the seventh consecutive year of net job growth and well ahead of overall European employment growth. Regional results show Nordic regions up 2.3% and Central and Eastern Europe up 5.6%, with notable country gains in Belgium (11.9%), Bulgaria (11.6%), Poland (11.1%), Austria (10.7%), and Greece (9.7%). Total private equity-backed employment reached 11.4 million in Europe by end-2024, about 5% of the continent’s workforce. Venture-stage firms created 8.7% net new jobs in 2024; growth- and buyout-stage firms also expanded payrolls. Eric de Montgolfier, CEO of Invest Europe, said the sector proves it creates jobs and supports Europe’s competitiveness and sustainability through skill development.
