On 15 July 2026, the European Commission published a corrigendum to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2020, correcting the application date notes for three model certificates used for consignments of certain animals and animal products entering the Union. The corrigendum specifies that from 3 September 2026, the certificates apply only to consignments that are both certified and enter the Union on or after that date, rather than merely entering on or after that date.
The corrigendum (C(2026)5154) corrects notes in Chapters 29 (model 'EU-FISH'), 30 (model 'FISH/MOL-CAP'), and 31 (model 'MOL-HC') of Annex III to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/2235. The original note read: “Applicable to consignments entering the Union as from 3 September 2026.” The corrected note now reads: “Applicable to consignments both certified and entering the Union as from 3 September 2026.”
This technical correction ensures that certificates issued before the effective date remain valid for consignments entering after that date, provided the certificate was issued before 3 September 2026. The change primarily affects operators and national authorities involved in certifying and inspecting imports of fish, molluscs, and other animal products for human consumption. It clarifies the transitional period and prevents potential confusion over the validity of pre-September certificates.
The corrigendum was issued by the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE) and corrects the original Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2020 of 26 July 2024, published on 29 July 2024. No further institutional follow-up is required as the corrigendum is a routine administrative correction.
