The Council of the European Union has adopted a decision appointing Mr Pitt Bach as a member of the Management Board of the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound), replacing a Luxembourgish member who resigned. The appointment is effective immediately and covers the remainder of the term, which ends in March 2027.
The decision was taken by written procedure on 18 February 2026 and published as a legislative act. It is based on Regulation (EU) 2019/127, which establishes Eurofound and sets out the rules for its governance. The Management Board is composed of representatives from EU member states, the European Commission, and employer and worker organisations.
Appointment fills vacancy after resignation The Council’s decision fills a vacancy created by the resignation of a previous Luxembourgish member. Mr Pitt Bach will serve until the end of the current term in March 2027. The appointment does not alter the balance of the board, as it replaces a member from the same member state.
No impact on policy or operations This is a routine administrative decision with no direct impact on Eurofound’s work programme or budget. Eurofound continues its mandate to provide research and analysis on living and working conditions across the EU. The change in board membership is unlikely to affect the agency’s operations or policy orientations.
Follow-up No further institutional steps are required. The decision takes effect upon its adoption.
