The Law Enforcement Working Party (Police) of the Council of the European Union is scheduled to meet on 23 June 2026 at 14:30 in the Europa Building, Brussels, in 2+2 format, to adopt an agenda and discuss data sharing, law enforcement networks, and a cooperation agreement with Peru, according to a notice of meeting and provisional agenda published by the Council on 22 June 2026.

The meeting will open with adoption of the agenda and information by the Presidency. Under point 3, the European Commission will present a proposal on access to data for effective law enforcement, focusing on developing secured information sharing capacities (document 10375/26), followed by an exchange of views with member states. Europol and Eurojust will be present for this item. This discussion aims to advance EU-wide capabilities for cross-border data access in criminal investigations, a long-standing priority for law enforcement agencies.

Point 4 will feature an update on activities of law enforcement networks affiliated with LEWP-Police, specifically the European Crime Prevention Network (EUCPN) and the European Network of Authorities on Asset Recovery (ENAA), with a presentation by EUCPN. These networks support operational cooperation and best practice sharing among member states.

A key agenda item is point 5, where the Commission will present a draft agreement between the EU and the Republic of Peru on cooperation between Europol and Peruvian authorities for preventing and combating serious crime and terrorism (document 9070/26), followed by an exchange of views. If adopted, this agreement would enable Europol to exchange personal data with Peruvian law enforcement, enhancing international cooperation against cross-border crime.

The meeting will also hear presentations on the results of the Cyprus Presidency (point 6) and the work programme of the incoming Irish Presidency (point 7), providing continuity in EU law enforcement policy. Any other business will be addressed under point 8.

This meeting advances EU law enforcement cooperation on data sharing, network coordination, and a new Europol-Peru agreement, with presidencies reporting results and plans. No prior coverage of this specific meeting exists in recent records.
