On 14 July 2026 in New York, EU Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy Jessika Roswall announced that the European Union will launch Water Resilience Dialogues in support of preparations for the 2026 UN Water Conference. Speaking at an event co-hosted by several UN member states, Roswall said the EU is ready to engage with Senegal and the UAE on governance, financing, nature-based solutions, climate resilience, water reuse and digital water systems. The EU will also organise a high-level workshop in September to refine policy messages and shape concrete initiatives across several Interactive Dialogues, including Water for Prosperity, Water for the Planet, and Investments for Water. Roswall described the EU's forthcoming Water Resilience Strategy as the bloc's flagship contribution to the Conference. She called for a permanent intergovernmental process for water within the UN beyond 2030 and for better integration of water into climate, biodiversity and land agendas. The speech contained no numerical targets, budget figures, or legislative proposals; it offered declarative support and a commitment to convene stakeholders.

The policy orientation is towards strengthening global water governance through multilateral cooperation and EU leadership. No prior coverage of this file exists in the last 180 days.
