High Representative/Vice-President Kaja Kallas will travel to Türkiye on 29-30 June 2026, accompanied by Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos and Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner, the European External Action Service announced on 28 June. The visit comes ahead of the NATO Summit in Ankara on 7-8 July and will include a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

The delegation will review EU-Türkiye relations and discuss common challenges in an increasingly volatile geopolitical environment, according to the EEAS. The visit is framed as an opportunity to explore additional avenues for cooperation, with Türkiye being both an EU candidate country and a NATO Ally. This will be Kallas's second official visit to Türkiye since taking office.

The visit underscores the EU's continued engagement with Ankara despite longstanding tensions over issues such as rule of law, migration cooperation, and the Cyprus dispute. The presence of Commissioner Kos signals the enlargement dimension, while Commissioner Brunner's participation highlights migration as a key topic. The visit also serves as a preparatory step for the NATO Summit, where EU-NATO cooperation is expected to feature prominently.

Audiovisual coverage of the High Representative's engagements will be provided via EBS and X.
