The European Union has called on all OSCE participating States to refrain from offensive, degrading or insulting language in meetings, following statements made at the previous week's Permanent Council session. In a statement delivered at OSCE Permanent Council No. 1571 on 2 July 2026, the EU urged discussions to be conducted in a spirit of mutual respect and professionalism, in line with OSCE principles and values. The statement, published by the EU Delegation to the International Organisations in Vienna on 7 July 2026, is open for alignment by other participating States. Albania, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Georgia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, San Marino, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom have already aligned themselves with the EU's position. The intervention underscores the EU's commitment to maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of OSCE proceedings through respectful dialogue.
