The EU Council's Working Party on e-Justice is scheduled to meet on 8 July 2026 at 10:00 in the Justus Lipsius building, Brussels, according to a notice of meeting and provisional agenda published on 25 June 2026. The meeting will focus on the mid-term review of the European e-Justice Strategy and the implementation of the DigitalJustice@2030 Strategy, alongside a follow-up on e-CODEX issues and presentations from legal stakeholders.
The agenda includes seven items. Under item 2, a framing document for the mid-term review of the European e-Justice Strategy will be issued, aiming to assess progress and adjust priorities for digital cross-border judicial cooperation. Item 3 concerns the DigitalJustice@2030 Strategy, with a living repository to be issued to track implementation milestones. Item 4 provides a state of play on e-CODEX after the last Technical Working Group meeting on 15 June 2026, addressing technical and procedural challenges in the digital exchange of judicial data.
Item 5 features a presentation by the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) on practical experiences with e-CODEX and other e-Justice systems, specifically regarding the Service of Documents and Taking of Evidence regulations. Item 6 includes a presentation by the Publications Office on the JURE Collection, a database of European judicial decisions in civil and commercial matters. The meeting will conclude with any other business under item 7.
The meeting is a routine working-level session that will inform future Council decisions on digital justice. No legislative decisions are expected at this stage, but the outcomes will feed into the broader EU digital justice agenda, affecting national judicial authorities, legal professionals, and EU institutions involved in cross-border litigation. The mid-term review and implementation repository are expected to shape the next phase of EU e-Justice policy.
