Parliament endorsed the modernised EU-Mexico strategic partnership by 479 votes to 119 , with 65 abstentions, carried by a broad centre-and-right coalition of the EPP, S&D, Renew, ECR and ESN, alongside a majority of the Greens/EFA. The Left voted overwhelmingly against, and the PfE was internally divided, with more members abstaining or opposing than backing the text. As a consent decision, this vote is the step Parliament must take before the agreement can enter into force — its approval clears the way for the deepened political, economic and cooperation framework with Mexico. Though the resolution itself sets out Parliament's political position rather than legislating, the consent it expresses is a decisive procedural gate for the partnership. The single roll-call showed a wide governing majority spanning the political centre and much of the right, set against opposition concentrated in The Left and scepticism within the PfE, whose 15 votes in favour were outnumbered by its 23 against and 35 abstentions.
