- “It leads to a hyper prioritized global humanitarian overview, where the UN, while estimating that a total $44 Million dollars are needed in order to meet humanitarian needs. They prioritize only. Only 29 billion are the most urgent needs to serve 114 million people. But as of today, only 5.5 billion. Out of those, 29 billion have been allocated to. To this response, the outlook for 2026 is pretty grim. The current trends only suggest further deterioration. The escalation of conflict everywhere in the world, leading to record high displacement. Deepening food insecurity and climate related disasters. And. The repair. Prioritize. Reset, as I mentioned, is only an illustration of the critical juncture we are in. So I think that all of. That call for, uh, the support of the European Parliament vis a vis, uh, the, the, the, the 2026 budget. So we are well aware of the difficult, uh, and situation in terms of budget availability. But we have over the past years, very much counted on your support. And we were very grateful for the amendments that were passed. And we hope that it can still be the case for 2026. So thank you very much.”

- “Okay. Thank you. Chair. So I can only concur with the with the element I highlighted by by the rapporteur on the urgency and the drastic situation in which the humanitarian context is in today. So the global humanitarian landscape has deteriorated further in 2025. So as we speak, we have nearly 300 million people that require urgent humanitarian assistance and protection. Forced displacement has reached unprecedented level, with 123.2 million people forced to flee persecution. Violence of these disasters in addition to that, including 83 million that are internally displaced. Meanwhile, the global food security crisis continue to escalate. That 290, 95.3 million people that face acute levels of food insecurity, natural disasters continues, and climate change is only adding to to those. You also mentioned the the drastic consequences of the US aid funding cuts. This is particularly crucial when it comes to humanitarian aid. Knowing that U.S. aid was amounting to 42% of the global humanitarian, um, uh, funding, uh, globally. Uh, so approximately 83% of US aid awards and 60% of State Department programs have been terminated in the field of humanitarian assistance. Linked to that, the UN system is trying to reshape and to reorganize with the so-called Humanitarian Reset Initiative.”
