“Other regions possibly do not invest as much as we do. And we are located in an area in a geographical area with troubles in the east. We have political and troubles that affects the transparency. But also in our Mediterranean coasts, the presence of virus poses a challenge. Foot and mouth disease. There is no room for complacency after the eradication in Hungary, Slovakia and Germany. We have many viruses around that one, two or virus that you should be familiar to in the future because it may affect us. What is of major importance for us is to keep the partnership with. We found some of the activities we work together and we contribute with our expertise. And in exchange, we get the kind of reports and the kind of activities that are illustrating the debate today. In the long term, we need to keep this partnership and we need to emphasize the EU predictability as regards partnership, possibly compared with other regions in the world. We are there and we want to continue working together with and for the future. We need to invest on vaccination. We are doing it. The war is contributing. In the recent forum, we discussed the pros and cons, the difficulties and how to to get it down. We need them and possibly the OHA. The World Organization for Animal Health also needs the European Union, the Parliament, the Commission and the Council. And we need to be aware that the standards needs to be modernized. Sometimes it has been raised in this House. Our rules are as low we encompass with the development of standards. But this needs resources. Resources in war and resources in the EU. And thank you for the lively debate and the participation of our colleagues from Paris.”

“Mr. president, and congratulations to Doctor Arroyo for the for the clear presentation and the reply to the many questions by the honourable members. It has been an interesting exchange, and I would like to highlight that we are we are confronted with challenges at global level, and the report goes deeply on on the description of those challenges and the recent events in the European Union. Foot and mouth disease, lumpy skin disease have been mentioned, emphasizes the need for transparency and the report, and the way OHA is gathering information and dispatching information on animal diseases is of paramount importance. Without knowing which diseases and which viruses are around us, we cannot prepare ourselves and we cannot order the vaccines we need for our vaccine banks and for our vaccinations. But we should be aware also of the limitations of these global systems. Not all countries worldwide report with the same intensity, some because they don't have the resources, some others because of behavioral issues with transparency in the EU, I think we are sufficiently transparent and we have developed a system of animal disease information system that operates together and in synergy with Wohaa. This is an IT project that has costed many years, but now in a single window, the EU is able to report in compliance with our rules as well as globally. Where are we in the EU? You will see in the report, in the maps and in the figures that there are many dots and many figures indicating the presence of the diseases in the EU. And this is partially due to the efforts on surveillance that we are making, especially on wildlife. You will see a lot of findings of highly pathogenic avian influenza, a lot of wild boar infected with African swine fever.”
