“We are also approaching the review of the 2019 19 Copyright Directive, the directive that Axl Rose is all too familiar with, and we have issued a call for tender to initiate a study that will support us in assessing the impact of the directive on the ground. The study will assess how the provisions of the directive have been applied in practice that affect its effectiveness and relevance, and any potential shortcomings. The TDM exception will be examined as part of the study, and something which is important is that on all these issues. Can you work? 30s. So we are working closely with the EU. The Commission has unveiled the general purpose, a code of practice last week, and in response to the concerns expressed on the third draft, the relevant measures have been strengthened, notably as regards Regard respect for the different opt out protocols. And it is clear. It is clear that abiding by the code does not trigger a presumption of compliance with copyright law, and all best efforts provisions were replaced by firmer commitments. So the final point is that the Commission is finalizing the template for the summary of training data, which should bring about much more transparency and help right holders enforce their rights. Thanks very much.”

“And good afternoon, everybody, and thanks very much, Mr. Chair. So we sifted through the good report of Axel Voss, which looks at the policy challenges linked to the usage of copyrighted content as training input for generative AI models, and also at the status of the output of generative AI. I do appreciate the pragmatic and solution driven approach, which is followed in the repo in the report, and we are currently going through the proposals set out in the report carefully, and we very much look forward to further discussion on on its future on the follow up. So on what the Commission is doing, because Mr. Mantovani said we are we are late already. Well, I personally take issue with that because we are actively seeking solutions to the issues related to copyright and I and we are carrying out several initiatives. So we are committed to improve the practical implementation of the opt out, which is linked to the TDM exception. So in line with one of the draft report ideas, the Commission has already launched a study to assess the opportunity and technical feasibility of introducing a registry not for copyright, but a registry for TDM opt outs. And the added value of such a registry is that it would be a practical solution to ensure that the opt out are expressed. So expressed by rightsholders, are visible, are findable, and are eventually respected by AI developers.”
