“Yeah, thanks a lot, chair members. Thanks a lot for your generous support for the simplification initiative. Um, there are lots of amendments tabled and you made very valuable points. Thanks also for the initiative, for the opportunity to briefly offer some elements of reply, but it's I would just limit it because of the general nature of the discussion. Um, to the point why we wanted to do, um, this SMC. It's really to capture companies with the potential for further growth and development, and we needed to strike a balance between making life easier for those companies that need it and not putting at risk precisely these policy objectives that we have in the pieces of law that will be touched by this. Concretely, we should enable a smooth transition of SMEs towards smcs. So the pathway should be growth. And we should avoid a cliff edge. So the moment that you burst through the threshold that you are then caught up by all the regulations. We need to have, um, targeted policies indeed to support smcs in future proposals. But this is of course not limited to smcs. We also need to further support SMEs on the Smcs. Our definition covers, as you know, about 38,000 companies. Um, just wanted to mention that these are the companies that have successfully grown out of this SMC definition. Um, they have normally a proven, proven track record in innovation and are the leading force for strengthening our competitiveness. These companies also make a very large contribution to the EU's welfare and employment. So any policy that supports these companies knees will also benefit from a multiplier effect with regard to the number of employees and the amount of created added value. And with this, thank you very much for the time granted and for the fruitful discussion. Thanks, chair.”
