- “Thank you. Chair. Thank you, Mr. Zdrojewski and honourable members, thanks for the invitation and for the very comprehensive draft report on the role of EU policies in shaping the European sport model. It's a pleasure to read about the European Parliament's commitment, highlighting the need for Or further nurture of a value based European sport model for the benefit of European citizens. We welcome very much the fact that the report supports the European sport model, considering its role in serving society, fostering inclusiveness, promoting EU values and solidarity, and serving to promote inclusive stakeholder governance. There are numerous aspects that are tackled in this report that enable comprehensive analysis of the key features of the sport model, European sport model and these features require important attention in the current context. So we thank the Parliament for having put a spotlight on on these, uh, on this issue. Uh, these concerns, notably the need for coordinated efforts to increase safe, inclusive and equitable sport. Effective solidarity mechanism. Um, also good governance and transparency. And the report also highlights the worrying trends of decline in sport volunteering. The Commission shares the views of the Parliament on the need to strengthen efforts on collective governance, to make stakeholder representation in decision making more effective.”

- “Implementing measures on equality, diversity and inclusion, particularly to address underrepresentation in leadership positions at gender balance. These issues align well with the Commission's commitment, illustrated by the ongoing cooperation with Member States, for example, on the Open Method of Coordination Group addressing athletes rights and working conditions, as well as with recent discussions held at the Sport Council debate last week. So overall, the Commission warmly welcomes and thanks the Parliament for this draft report. This report will prove to be very useful in the context of commission work to promote and strengthen the European sport model in the next months, giving also possible indications to define the way forward that the Commission will will propose. So in the overall, as regards the recommendations suggested in this report that require action at commission level, we thank the report, the Parliament, for putting forward interesting proposals. And we also would like to inform that there is already ongoing some technical assessments to analyse the possibilities for implementation. Thank you.”
