What Klára DOBREV has said (2)
“Dear colleagues, if you want to fight poverty, then instead of statistics, data and tables, look in the eye of poor people. That's what I did. I went to a city in Hungary and talked to an 89 year old person who lives with her her daughter and receives a little bit more than €200 as a pension every year. And she tells me, I'm so ill. I am tired, but I don't dare to die because then I leave my daughter alone. This is cruelty. And then you think that if you reduce the taxes that multinationals pay, then this elderly lady will have more money. No multinationals and big companies having to meet, satisfy fewer rules and weaker regulations. No, this is a lie. This will not help if a society supports the rich against the poverty, the poor. This is not a solution. Ours is a solution. We support the poor. Madam Commissioner of Poverty.”
Priorities of taxation policy in the EU
“Thank you very much for the floor. So every time we discuss these reports, every time we discuss the use of European funding, this discussion always becomes an accusation of the Orban system. But this report is one of those as well, because European funding is there to make the member countries richer. But when they don't work in the proper way, they can destroy their countries. And we can't allow that. The report contains the irregularities which draw our attention to these problems, but without statistics. We Hungarians are very well aware that over the last ten years, a fitting repair person has become, in Hungary, one of the richest men just because he is a friend of Orban. Viktor's and Orban. Viktor's family members have also become millionaires and millionaires. Billionaires. Why? Because they have been using European funds. And how have they done so well? On paper, everything has been regular. You have mentioned the checklists. Of course, the auditors come and they take and check every item on the checklist. While we can say that nothing is in order over the coming years, we need to consolidate the systems. We need to consolidate the audits, because these people have, um, have fooled us and we can't afford that over the coming years. Thank you.”
