- 2026-06-17 “On the board, see that in Brussels, you are protecting the mental health of children. Let me laugh at this. Because if you protected the mental health of children, you would certainly not push for the rainbow agenda and the drag queen into schools among children. If you protected children, you would not destroy their their future by premature sexualization and, by spreading poverty.
You know, I don't think that 1314 year olds need social media in their life and to compare their lives and then have depressions from it. No. They need to run around, get to know each other, communicate, and educate themselves. But at the same time, I don't believe that by adopting your digital agenda, digital identity, and digital digital wallet, you actually care about protecting children. No. You only care about getting the remaining parts of Internet under control that is still free. And you do not hesitate and misuse this topic to do so.
If you really wanted to protect children, you would fight against pedophilia. You would adopt punishments against pedophiles so that they are, an example for others, but we will never support the censorship.”

- 2025-05-12 “P-001872/2025 Answer given by Mr Tzitzikostas on behalf of the European Commission The comprehensive Impact Assessment 1 which accompanied the publication of the proposal 2 to amend inter alia Directive 2014/45/EU 3 , provides the basis upon which the Commission’s proposal was drafted. It included consultations with all stakeholder groups, in line with Commission Better Regulation rules 4 . In line with normal procedure, the adopted Commission proposal was not shared with Member States in advance. However, Member States now have the opportunity to discuss the proposal in Council, and Transport Ministers had an initial exchange of views at the recent Transport Council in Luxembourg. Regarding the proposed measure to require annual testing of vehicles 10 years older, 16 Member States already test older vehicles annually (often well before 10 years). In the 11 Member States affected by this measure, it would save approximately 1,850 lives and prevent around 21,000 severe injuries over the period 2026 to 2050, as well as significantly reducing air pollution emissions. In Slovakia alone, it is estimated that the proposal would prevent more than 43 fatalities and around 500 severe injuries, over the same period. 1 https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=celex:52025SC0096. 2 https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=COM%3A2025%3A180%3AFIN. 3 Directive 2014/45/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 3 April 2014 on periodic roadworthiness tests for motor vehicles and their trailers and repealing Directive 2009/40/EC, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/dir/2014/45/oj. 4 https://commission.europa.eu/law/law-making-process/better-regulation_en.”

- 2024-07-17 “P-001369/2024 Answer given by Mr Breton on behalf of the European Commission The Digital Services Act (DSA) 1 and the 2022 Code of practice on disinformation 2 provide a comprehensive framework to mitigate the risks of online disinformation fully in line with fundamental rights including freedom of speech. Neither instrument regulates content or gives the Commission power to issue content or account removal orders. To the contrary the DSA protects EU users against over-removal of lawful content by platforms, obliges platforms to explain to affected users their content moderation decisions in so-called statements of reasons 3 and gives them means of redress in case of breach by the platform. The Code supports voluntary cooperation in times of elections, including by establishing a Rapid Response System (RRS) to swiftly exchange information. Signatories implemented this commitment for the first time during the 2024 European elections. 1. The Commission chairs the Code’s task force meetings, including those on the RRS. In its role, the Commission facilitates the discussion. It does not notify platforms of any content, including within the RRS, and cannot require platforms to act upon notifications from other signatories. 2. As set out in the Code’s Transparency Centre 4 , the RRS is a framework of cooperation, designed by and agreed among signatories, which allows civil society organisations and factcheckers to report content, accounts, or trends that they deem to present threats to the integrity of the electoral process. Based on their terms of service, platforms might decide to take actions on what was reported. 3. Signatories are expected to provide in their next Code reports information at Member State level on actions taken under the Code and in relation to the RRS. Broader data on content and account removals is already reported in the DSA Transparency Database 5 . 1 Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 October 2022 on a Single Market for Digital Services and amending Directive 2000/31/EC (Digital Services Act), OJ L 277, 27.10.2022, p. 1-10. 2 https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/policies/code-practice-disinformation 3 Available in the DSA Transparency Database , see below. 4 https://disinfocode.eu/eu-elections-2024/ 5 https://transparency.dsa.ec.europa.eu/”
Disinformation & online freedoms
- “I'm very glad that after oppression, the pressure of farmers, the Commission finally pays attention to the to the objections of farmers. But I would be really happy if they would continue to listen. Because according to the new proposal of the budget for the next multiannual framework, it seems that people in Europe will get bullets instead of bread. Ladies and gentlemen, where are the the talks about the EU protecting our citizens, protecting our farmers? When food is ever more expensive, life is much more difficult. There are less and less young farmers and our markets are flooded with suspicious goods with suspicious cereals from Ukraine. And now we see that the EU will open its market also to Mercosur countries from South America. So these are things that we cannot agree with, and we cannot agree with cutting away €100 billion from farming to NGOs in the next multiannual financial framework, to NGOs that will spread EU propaganda and also to support weapons all over the world. So, Commissioner, return money back to farmers and let's not pay for weapons. This is not what people want.”
Agricultural funding
- “Do you really want to send millions to to the corrupt country of Ukraine? Do you want to pay three times as much as we're currently paying for energy? You're reducing people's freedoms. You are putting sanctions on uranium, on gas that we need. You are destroying our own industry. And you are meaning you are doing. You're creating a situation. We need to import more from elsewhere. Europe. Is not acting in its own good here. So we need to be focusing on the cheapest energy sources for European people. That's that's the plan that we have.”
Russia-Ukraine conflict (10th term)
- “People in Slovakia have told me to let you know that they've had enough of Greta Thunberg and her silly ideas, and you and your, uh, prohibitions. I'm a normal man. I like cars, tractors, sport cars, the smell of petrol. And I'm alarmed by the hypocrisy here. You talk about the need for public transport. You don't want people to be able to choose their cars at will. And yet, von der Leyen travels by plane, a distance of, what, 40km or something? And you don't mind? We to support public transport. We're not against electric mobility. But people should have the right to choose. And people should have the right to choose their own car. So you have to do away with this ban on the internal combustion engine.”

- “Thank you very much. Now, colleague on behalf of the Europe of Sovereign Nations Group. Thank you very much, dear colleagues. Really. European consumers need to be protected better. But let's let's put this plainly, they need to be protected from pointless bureaucracy coming from Brussels, because let's remind ourselves of the of the greatest things that the EU has brought to European consumers. And I'm talking about that standard for how how bent the bananas might be. I'm sorry. It's a regulation on the sorting of fruit, how it was called. Let's remember the, the flower with with the worms. Let's let's remind ourselves of the power of vacuum cleaners or a restriction on the volume of the of of the flushing tanks for for toilets. Let's remind ourselves of gts2 or petrol engines. Sorry. Ets2 for the emission emissions from households for what? They burn by heating their households or running their car throughout its whole history. Eu has adopted 143,000 regulations. Apparently, I don't know, it's a lot. I don't know whether anybody has ever read all of these, but under these conditions, it is impossible to have a better consumer protection in Europe than what we already have. The best that the European Commission can do for consumers, for business people, for the European market is let them be. Stop making up new regulations new bans and start, you know, building them away removing them so that people can do better business, get more money. Thank you. Thank you very much. And now, colleague Arias Echeverria.”
Overall simplification of regulation in the EU
- “Dear colleague, dear colleague, you don't have to run away. What package? On the protection of democracy you are speaking about. You in Brussels do just the opposite of what you call democracy. You have abolished and you don't recognize the results of elections in Romania. You want to abolish the veto, right? In the Council. And European commissioners are not elected officials who would like to command member states or governments that were that came come from democratic elections. You called democracy only when you are in power. But this is not the real democracy. And if you really want to help European democracy, truly help start, first of all with listening and trying to understand other opinions. Stop listening to yourself only. Thank you.”
EU political integration
- “Dear colleagues, after the tragic control mission led by Mr. Hockey, which was not well accepted in Slovakia, I believe that this mission, which was led by this mission in Slovakia, was much better accepted by the representative of Slovakia. Representative of EU. When they communicate with our government rationally and smoothly in a cultivated matter, then the discussion is different, and I would like to add my voice to colleagues, which appreciated the attitude of the Slovak government during this mission and the whole tone of conversations and all I MEPs which participated in this mission, although our opinion as far as the results might differ, and we have to point out that meetings with NGOs must be taken with a pinch of salt because they always have a political agenda on their own, according to whether they are invited to which kind of conversation they are invited, and their opinion reflect these positions and orientations. And I believe that the situation on the rule of law compared to the previous years and previous governments when. Media were banned. Independent journalists were banned. Representatives of opposition were jailed. So today, the situation of the rule of law. Has been significantly improved. Although it is not perfect, many things could be improved. Thank you.”
EU Supervision of the Rule of Law
- “Yes. Thank you. Chair. I will speak in Slovak. Colleagues, it's incredible that in the EU there are a lot of corruption cases and lobbyists. Only in this EPP building there are 29,000 lobbyists that are officially registered. We have a lot of corruption cases. And for example, Mr. von der Leyen, the vaccines that she bought, that's the biggest case, €35 billion. There are also cases of money laundering for the former um justice commissioner, who was supposed to fight against corruption. Mr. Reynders and there are millions paid to politicians to support Arab countries. In the votings there is a wide gate. There is a media gate. The newest corruption case. There are millions, maybe billions of euros paid out to NGOs, to lobbying groups so that they lobby with politicians and generally that they support a stricter green rules and laws. We also support a fight against corruption and bribery. But in this proposal for a directive, you keep talking about commission monitoring, proposing, presenting, adopting measures, considering but never what? Nowhere. You talk about the possible scenario. What will happen if somebody from the commission is involved in these corruption cases, for example, the Commission president, how will this person will be punished, what the investigation will be, what sanctions will be introduced. So this is what I'm missing in the text. And I think that we should write it down in the text. So the report in our opinion is good. Uh, it's also meant well, but I'm missing some things. For example, how to make this fight against corruption stricter and how to, uh, prevent some politicians, maybe liberal politicians, in disrespecting these rules. Thank you.”
Transparency requirements of EU institutions
- “Madam von der Leyen. You are going to destroy the European Union. And I'm convinced that the EU is going to collapse soon because everything you in your power to make that happen, please realise what you are actually expecting from Hungary and Slovakia. You approach us telling us to approve the 18th package of Russian anti-Russian sanctions and to definitely cut ourselves off from the bad Russian gas. But these carbohydrates are vital, are essential for Slovak industry and economy. Without them, our economy would either collapse, would not be competitive And Mr. Shevtsova, you are sitting here and you know it very well, and I call on you to really defend Slovakia more in this respect. Now then, we have the allies from West, and they are telling us to give 5% of our GDP for arms and for defense and for building roads, for tanks that will go from west to the east, like Mr. alluded to. But thank you very much. We don't want that. And I really wonder why Slovak Prime Minister has not blocked the Russian sanctions in a definitive manner, because we would have done it a long time ago. And I don't want that there are Slovaks calling for neutrality because they don't see this kind of future for themselves. Thank you.”
EU-Russia relations (from March 2022)
- “Thank you very much. I didn't understand the interpreter was not working, but what I got from my understanding of Polish, I am convinced that the European Union should not transform itself into a military union. The European Union should be a peaceful economic project, a project of economic cooperation, fair cooperation between nations and should not be buying arms, should not transfer money from agriculture and regions to purchase of drones or tanks, it should not turn into a military union. It should remain a peaceful and economic project. That's all we want to.”
EU competences on defence
- “Madame von der Leyen. I will say this plainly. You brought the European Union to a crash, but also we are the laughing stock of the world. Your Green Deal, which is destroying European industry, is not a point of pride, but it's really a point of laughter from all the world. The US is doing anything they want and they are mopping the floor with us. And instead of cooperating with the East, you decided to support war. And instead of using Africa and its resources, you decided to bring Africa into Europe. It's all, uh, counter. Um, anything reasonable? Your progressive colleagues passed a resolution yesterday to support European democracy, to make sure that in European, uh, European elections, 16 year old children are allowed to vote and that candidate lists are gender balanced. Half of men. Half of women. Well, I'm sure that when this decisive feminist response of Europe is seen by Trump and Putin, they will fall down to the floor, probably laughing because this is what you are a laughing stock.”
Von der Leyen
- “Thank you. First, I refuse this Brussels speaker saying that Slovakia is a racist country that discriminates Roma. The best rapper in Slovakia is of Roma origin. I have some of his songs on my mobile. He's the most popular rapper and other musical bands are also very successful in Slovakia.
And if Slovakia was a racist country, these people would not be as successful. So this just demonstrates that it doesn't matter what color your skin is. What matters is how hard you work and how well you use the opportunities that life offers you regardless of where you were born.
And I think it's really unfair and it's really a case of discrimination that there are projects focusing specifically only on Roma communities. So a municipality that wants to perhaps try and get some money from the EU needs to have fifty, sixty, seventy percent of Roma population and this is really a discrimination.
Because let's just twist it, let's just turn it around. If there were only projects for municipalities that have fifty, sixty, seventy percent of white population, now this would definitely be immediately described as a case of discrimination, as racism.
So this really has to change. The billion of euros more or less that the current government is offering the settlements should be distributed among all the municipalities equally. We should not discriminate among municipalities and take away this money from people because the government needs to save somewhere else.
I do agree with the statement that we need to focus on how much money is being stolen, how much money is being involved in fraud. I'd like to ask you very openly, the representative of the Slovak government, I'd like to ask you how far has the investigation gone in terms of how much money was stolen in the previous term as well.
When Mr. Polak was the representative, there was a project worth twenty million you know offered to Roma municipalities when the majority of population have to really, really tighten their belts.”
Engagement of Romani communities in Europe
- “Thank you so much for giving me the floor. Uh, it's. We have, uh, funds for the reconstruction, but when we look at our future budget. Well, we we we we going to be spending billions for green experiments Projects for lots of civil servants. Thousands of civil servants. So what about the money for young people, for young families, for children, for those who can't pay their electricity bills? You suggest to increase expense in defence and security for artists, for fact checkers. And then you want to introduce gender quota and less money for the agricultural sector and for students. But of course you want to increase Erasmus so that 105,000 students from Africa can be imported. Apparently you seem to forget who are the European taxpayers.”
Size of EU budget
- “Thank you for the question, but I will I will follow up what Mr. Jacobs said. We do not need more regulations as it was proposed by by the Greens or our left wing colleagues. We do not need more deregulation. Real freedom for the economy as it was before. Before the Lisbon Treaty, where the when the European states, the European citizens were freely allowed to do their business without European foolish European regulations which make their lives much more complicated. And that is it. Thank you.”
EU political integration
- “Why are you prohibiting it? People use a combustion engine. Why do you oblige them to buy electric cars when most people can't afford them? And then you wonder why European companies are going bankrupt? This is. These are the consequences of your absurd decisions. Many of you are so far from reality you don't even know you've never had to. Unlike ordinary citizens, where to find money for an expensive electric car On the one hand, you oblige people to buy electric cars and then you ban, on the other hand, combustion engines, and you pretend to be saving the climate. Now stop lying to all of us. First of all, you're protecting yourselves. You're protecting your agenda, the green business and the nonsense, the Green Deal that has proven to be a complete failure. You've told us, and you have lied, that the Green Deal will make sure that the EU will have a better future. But this has proven to be wrong. And this is the time now to change the heading. People are expecting to be able to buy affordable cars.”

- “Miss von der Leyen. Mr. Sefcovic is because of you that Europe is collapsing. Miss von der Leyen. I listen carefully to what you said. You're like an old radio. You repeat the same thing. Green deal sanctions, green deal regulation. Do you even have an idea about how much money European citizens and companies have to pay for expensive energy? Draghi report was published a year and a half ago. A year and a half ago. You started talking about the catastrophic collapse of European economy. And in all this time in China, they started constructing 15 new nuclear power plants. What did the European Commission do? What did Mrs. von der Leyen do? She cut us off from cheap energy from the East, and via the Green Deal. She liquidated many European companies. This is the real reason for expensive energy in Europe. Without any changes, we cannot talk about improving our competitiveness because cheap energy is the basis. So please understand this and stop hurting and damaging our companies and our citizens. Thank you.”
Energy (green transition)
- “Von der Leyen, Mr. Sefcovic. After the attack of the US and Israel on Iran. I only have one question for you. What is now your amazing, brilliant plan to ensure affordable energy prices for people in Europe? Because I'm sorry, miss von der Leyen has been talking about we are doing this right. No, it's not enough. We are destroying us. Importing oil from the east. It doesn't work because, um, Zelensky doesn't want to repair the pipeline. It doesn't want to pay anyone to repair it. You have, uh, prohibited, uh, importing oil from that region. And now we cannot even get it from, uh, the Middle East. So the result is that it in France, in Germany, other countries, they are paying more than €2 per liter per liter. Uh, companies are going bankrupt. Uh, people are leaving. People are fed up with these high energy prices. So please stop banning things and banning imports, uh, enable energy security and let people import and produce things so that it's, uh, the cheap, the cheapest possible for people. Thank you.”
EU approach to energy security (home-made vs import sources)
- “Colleagues, do you really think that people can really do this consolidation, everything getting more expensive. And now you're asking new European taxes from them? Mr.. For example, are you a bit in contact with reality? Are you really so cheeky to ask for new European taxes for Brussels? And for what? For more weapons for immigrants, for high salaries of commissioners, for more measures that have been failing until now? Those are not our priorities. And even you dare to ask us a new European employees, a new agency, new civil servants, higher salaries for them. Where is housing for young people? Where is it supporting traditional family? Where is raising the, uh. Improving the conditions in the east of Europe and for Slovaks? I can tell you, we don't want new taxes paid to Ursula von der Leyen. Line. We want to improve the living standards in Eastern Europe because we already do have Western prices. Thank you.”
Own EU resources
- “Thank you. Just a couple of years ago, our car industry was the leader in the world. We were the ones who were determining the direction of the car industry. Then, however, the green activists appeared here and they just promote the Green Deal enormously, and they basically have destroyed everything. The European car manufacturers started to started to go down. The cars are becoming more and more expensive. The energy is the same. Even the Chinese are ahead of us in terms of technologies. So the vision of electricity electromobility it's a suicide that we should just stop this. The ban on the combustion cars. All right then, maybe a good perspective, but let's be constructive. Let's help People. And let's also the sale of combustion cars. Thank you.”
Road transport environmental policy
- “Colleagues. Well, I saw that miss von der Leyen was adopting an even more devastating Green Deal, too. And I thought she'd gone mad. Or she'd been corrupted from somewhere external in order to drive the European economy to ruin. There's no logic behind it. It's not logical that a responsible person would want to destroy our European economy with the Green Deal and then just press on, continue with these environmental policies. We have China and the US. They don't care at all about this. Then we come out worse from it. You say that the strategy is supposed to be our growth strategy. What kind of growth strategy? Because of decarbonisation, we have the highest energy prices worldwide. And we should just look at the energy prices. Are people supposed to wait and wait at home for the sun to set or rise so that they can run their solar panels? I think we should put a stop to these absurd policies.”
Energy (green transition)
- “Von der Leyen for the way you're destroying Europe. You should have been in court for a long time and not call for 2 billion budget here in the European Parliament, and introduce even more destructive Green Deal measures. Europe is burning and you're hallucinating about unrealistic visions, but it's for your war and sanction politics that people are suffering and paying paying record prices for energy because of your Green Deal. European companies are deserting Europe because of your immigration policy. Every week sees a shooting in Europe and in Brussels. They have to deploy the army against immigrants. You have destroyed Europe, and we are just a small step from a total collapse. And despite of that, you are not admitting to a mistake and you just come here to ask for even stronger application of policies that have destroyed Europe that have not worked so far. You are asking for a stricter punishment of all opponents and critics. Mrs. von der Leyen do one good service for Europe. Resign. You are not the chair of Europe. Europe belongs to people, not to you.”
Von der Leyen
