- “Clearly, jobs, quality jobs here in Europe are essential. And that is what I want to highlight. And the when it comes to European preference, which we should have within this single market, which, as I see it, which is an essential tool of protection so that we can protect our jobs but create new ones to adapt our single market and deepen it with social justice, and which we need so much to defend the European project.”
EU policy on forced redundancies
- “Thank you, Madam Chair. And thank you, Commissioner, for this very valuable. Information that you've given us. Obviously, this is something that we're all concerned about, but I wanted to go back to what you mentioned as a priority, which I share this transition towards decarbonization. So moving away from our dependence on fossil fuels, which makes us dependent on crises such as the one we're living through now. As a commissioner, do you think that that has consequences on the resources we use for decarbonization, but also the timetable? I mean, should we speed things up? So could you suggest something there? And then a second question on the reactions of the different member states to tackle this crisis. What's your assessment of the various proposals that are on the table? I mean, you talked about the principles that the Commission raises for the actions of each member states. So what would be your initial assessment of the various proposals that have been made and their effectiveness for consumers and also for member states budgets? Thank you very much.”
Energy (green transition)
- “Madam Vice President, Mr. Vice President, 450 million citizens. It's a single market rules, protections for companies, workers. That's our single market. But today it can't just be an economic space. It has to be a real power, a political power. In today's world, we might be weak in open market without protections becomes a trap. And if there's no political will in the market, we can. We are offering a offering us up to the others. But defending the single market isn't just deregulation. It means protecting it, reorienting it, and having a real European preference for public procurement is investing in strategic sectors massively. And it is quality jobs being created here in Europe. Our compass should be simple European preference for our sovereignty and our jobs. Thank you.”
"Buy European" provisions
- “Thank you, Madam President. The benefit for some is now making many Europeans poor. Energy prices are rising and companies are making in decent profit in France. The fuel distributors have actually seen their margin increase by 500%. And like Spain, we need concrete measures to protect Europeans. And the first thing to do would be to tax maxi profits. We need to have these financial resources to be able to redistribute them and to be able to invest in our energy sovereignty, and we need to do that now before those huge profits disappear. Europe needs to take action, and it's not the people who need to be paying, but the people who are profiting.”
Taxation of windfall profits
- “Thank you very much. President. Commissioner. More than €90 billion were the profits Google's profits in 2024. In seven seconds, Google cashes in what an average household does in a year. And of course, what is happening on the digital revenue is skyrocketing while people's wages are going down. And I think that this unfairness needs to be tackled. Let us do that and let us do it now. So if the US is going to withdraw from the OECD agreement, then we have to set the example. We have to make sure that multinationals pay what they should pay where they make their profits. So yes, to a digital service tax. In Europe it's about justice because every euro that meta Google or Amazon doesn't pay its r SMEs. Our farmers, our public services, among others that shoulder the burden. Fiscal justice is a tantamount to making sure that we're sovereign rather than powerless. Thank you.”
Priorities of taxation policy in the EU
- “(10:25:20 – 10:26:02): jobs quality jobs here in Europe are essential, and that is what I want to highlight in the when it comes to European preference, which we should have within this single market, which as I see it, which is an an essential tool of protection so that we can protect our jobs, but create new ones to adapt our single market and deepen it with social justice and which we need so much to defend the European project. Thank you. The next speaker, Corinne de Figuero. Please.”
