The joint resolution on Burkina Faso passed by 476 votes to 11 , with 75 abstentions. EPP, S&D, Renew, ECR, Greens/EFA, and most of PfE voted in favour; ESN largely abstained, and a handful of NI and The Left members voted against or abstained. All seven preceding amendments — tabled largely by The Left and Greens/EFA — were rejected. They would have added language on structural inequalities and self-determination (Am 3, Am 5), solidarity with defenders of sovereignty (Am 4), criticism of European military and economic policies in the Sahel (Am 6), support for ECOWAS de-escalation diplomacy (Am 7), a reference to the destabilising consequences of the NATO intervention in Libya (Am 1), and a finding that French and European military operations had failed to deliver peace (Am 2). The mainstream — EPP, S&D, and Renew — voted against all seven, keeping them out of the final text. The closest vote was Am 4, which fell by just 6 votes ( 263 for, 269 against). EPP backed it while S&D and Renew did not; PfE split internally. The remaining amendments were defeated by wider margins, the largest being Am 6, rejected by 388 votes. The final resolution therefore reflects the joint motion as written, without the additional geopolitical and self-determination clauses proposed by the left and green groups.
