The Council of the European Union has issued a corrigendum to the Croatian language version of Directive (EU) 2015/1535, which lays down a procedure for providing information on technical regulations and rules on Information Society services. The correction, published on 23 June 2026, amends Article 5(1), sixth subparagraph, by replacing the conjunction "i" (and) with "ili" (or) and removing the word "podrobne" (detailed) from the phrase "podrobne primjedbe i mišljenja" (detailed comments and opinions).
The corrected text now reads that for certain technical specifications or service rules, the Commission or Member States may submit their "comments or detailed opinions" only on aspects that could hinder trade or, for service rules, the free movement of services or freedom of establishment of service operators—not on fiscal or financial aspects. This aligns the Croatian version with the original meaning of the directive, which allows comments or detailed opinions to be submitted separately.
The corrigendum was issued under Procedure 2(b) for obvious error correction in a single language version. Member States have eight days from publication to submit observations to the Council's legal service. The correction does not affect other language versions or the substance of the directive, which remains unchanged.
Directive (EU) 2015/1535, codifying earlier legislation, requires Member States to notify the Commission of draft technical regulations before adoption, allowing scrutiny to prevent barriers to trade in goods and services. The correction ensures consistency in the Croatian text, which had inadvertently altered the meaning of the provision.
