The Council of the European Union has adopted a decision appointing Ms Aleid Ringelberg as a new member of the Management Board of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), replacing a Dutch representative who resigned. The decision, taken on 14 January 2026, fills the vacant seat for the remainder of the term, as nominated by the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC).

The appointment is a routine procedural step under Regulation (EU) 2019/126, which governs EU-OSHA's structure and operations. The Management Board is the agency's main governing body, responsible for strategic planning, budget approval, and oversight of activities related to improving occupational safety and health across the EU.

Impact on stakeholders The change affects EU-OSHA's governance composition, ensuring continued Dutch representation from the workers' side. For EU-OSHA itself, the appointment maintains board functionality without disruption. For the ETUC, it secures a voice for worker interests in the agency's decision-making. For employers' organisations and national authorities, the shift is neutral as it merely replaces one member with another from the same stakeholder group.

Institutional follow-up No further action is required from other EU institutions. The decision is effective immediately upon adoption, and Ms Ringelberg will serve until the end of the current term.
