The EU Council's Working Party on the United Kingdom is scheduled to meet on 10 July 2026 at 09:30 in Brussels to receive Commission updates on several dossiers under the Trade and Cooperation Agreement and the Common Understanding framework. The meeting, convened in the Justus Lipsius building with interpretation, will cover VAT administrative cooperation, motor vehicles, UK financial contributions, electricity market participation, and the Ukraine Support Loan.

Under the Trade and Cooperation Agreement, the Commission will inform the Working Party on preparations for the 6th meeting of the Trade Specialised Committee on VAT Administrative Cooperation and Recovery of Taxes, referenced in document WK 10234/26. Additionally, the Commission will debrief from the third meeting of the Working Group on Motor Vehicles and Parts, which took place on 21 May 2026 (WK 6873/26). These updates aim to ensure continued cooperation between the EU and UK in these technical areas.

Regarding the Common Understanding, the Commission will update on negotiations for an agreement on the UK's regular financial contribution towards reducing economic, social and territorial disparities in the Union (WK 6339/26 REV 1). This follows the broader framework established in the Trade and Cooperation Agreement and the Withdrawal Agreement. The Commission will also report on the UK's participation in the internal electricity market (WK 6338/26 REV 2), a key area for energy cooperation post-Brexit.

Under any other business, the Commission will update on UK participation in the Ukraine Support Loan, reflecting ongoing coordination on support for Ukraine. The Working Party's discussions are preparatory for the EU-UK Specialised Committees and the Partnership Council, with no decisions expected at this meeting. The agenda indicates a focus on technical implementation rather than political negotiations.
