The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has published the agenda for the EnprEMA Coordinating Group meeting scheduled for 8 April 2026, from 15:30 to 17:00 CEST, to be held online. The meeting, chaired by Ricardo Fernandes and Gunter Egger, will address updates on paediatric clinical trials, including an upcoming workshop on 12 May 2026 co-organised with ACT EU, and discuss practical steps to raise awareness of the European Network of Paediatric Research at the European Medicines Agency (EnprEMA) and disseminate its outputs.
The agenda includes a session on enhancing EnprEMA's foundations and futureproofing, followed by updates from working groups on cross-border clinical trials, patient and public involvement (PPI) and Young Person's Advisory Groups (YPAG), and paediatric research nurses. Participants will also review ACT EU guidance on conducting clinical trials during public health emergencies, seeking paediatric input and defining next steps. A proposal from the Innovative Therapies for Children with Cancer (ITCC) for a template for network contributions to Paediatric Investigation Plan (PIP) advice will be presented for information.
The meeting will also discuss short- and long-term priorities to inform future work and meetings, and provide an update on the annual EnprEMA meeting scheduled for 4-5 November 2026, including a call for volunteers. The agenda is set for adoption at the start of the meeting, with items marked for information, discussion, or decision.
Stakeholders impacted include paediatric researchers and clinical trial networks, who will benefit from streamlined guidance and templates; pharmaceutical companies developing paediatric medicines, who may face adjusted requirements for PIP submissions; patient advocacy groups involved in PPI and YPAG activities, whose input will shape trial design; and EU regulatory bodies, which will coordinate efforts to improve paediatric trial efficiency and emergency preparedness.
