The Council of the European Union has published a corrigendum to the German language version of Regulation (EU) 2018/1727 on the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust), correcting an obvious grammatical error in Article 56(1)(b). The correction, issued on 14 July 2026, applies exclusively to the German (DE) version of the regulation and does not alter the legal meaning of the provision.

The error appeared on page 172 of the Official Journal (L 295, 21 November 2018). The fix removes a misplaced preposition and adjusts the article, aligning the German text with the intended legal meaning.

The corrigendum follows Procedure 2(b), which applies to obvious errors in a single language version. Member States have eight days from publication to submit observations to the Council's Legal Service at dql.rectificatifs@consilium.europa.eu.

Regulation (EU) 2018/1727, adopted on 14 November 2018, established Eurojust's legal framework, replacing the earlier Council Decision 2002/187/JHA. The regulation governs Eurojust's structure, tasks, and data processing rules, including provisions on the transfer of operational personal data to third countries. Article 56(1)(b) specifies the authority responsible for receiving such data. The correction ensures the German version accurately reflects the regulation's uniform interpretation across all EU languages.

The corrigendum has no substantive effect on national authorities, Eurojust, or other stakeholders, as it corrects only a linguistic error. EU institutions and Member States using the German version will benefit from improved textual clarity, but legal obligations remain unchanged. The correction does not affect other language versions or the regulation's implementation.
