The Council of the European Union issued a corrigendum on 3 July 2026 correcting two errors in the Italian version and three errors in the Slovenian version of Directive 2003/25/EC on stability requirements for ro-ro passenger ships. The corrections address technical inaccuracies in Annex I and terminology inconsistencies in the Slovenian translation, with Member States given eight days to submit observations.

The corrigendum, classified as a correction of obvious errors under Procedure 2(b), targets the Italian language version published in Official Journal L 123 on 17 May 2003. In Annex I, point 1.1(b), the phrase "0,0 metres if the residual freeboard (fr) is equal to or less than 2,0 metres" is replaced with "0,0 metres if the residual freeboard (fr) is equal to or greater than 2,0 metres, and". In point 1.3.3, "if the significant wave height (hs) ... is greater than 1,5 metres but less than 4,0 metres" is corrected to "if the significant wave height (hs) ... is equal to or greater than 1,5 metres but less than 4,0 metres".

For the Slovenian version, the corrigendum standardises terminology throughout the text by replacing all grammatical forms of "krov za prevoz RO-RO tovora" (RO-RO cargo deck) with "RO-RO krov" (RO-RO deck), and "krov za RO-RO tovor" (deck for RO-RO cargo) with "RO-RO krov". Additionally, in Annex I, point 1.3.4, the phrase "which is not expected to be exceeded by more than 10%" is replaced with "the probability of exceeding which is not greater than 10%".

Member States have eight days from publication to submit observations to the Directorate Quality of Legislation of the Council's Legal Service via dql.rectificatifs@consilium.europa.eu. The corrigendum does not alter the substance of the directive, which sets specific stability requirements for roll-on/roll-off passenger ships to enhance maritime safety.
