Emmanuel Normant, Saint-Gobain’s Vice-President for Sustainable Development, was elected president of Eurogypsum in Brussels, taking over from Christoph Dorn of Knauf. Eurogypsum, founded in 1961, represents Europe’s gypsum industry and aims to support decarbonisation, the circular economy and biodiversity. Normant highlighted gypsum-based products as key to a sustainable, affordable European housing stock, noting their lightweight, low-carbon and recyclable qualities. Dorn recalled that housing has become a major policy issue for European leaders, emphasizing lightweight construction, vertical extension, and urban densification. The two-year, unpaid presidency is supported by expert groups and a secretariat led by Tristan Suffys.
