The Budget Committee of the Council of the European Union is scheduled to meet on 6 July 2026 at 09:30 in the Justus Lipsius Building in Brussels to discuss the 2027 draft budget and several administrative matters, according to a notice of meeting and provisional agenda published on 3 July 2026.
The main agenda item is the revised Presidency compromise proposal for the 2027 draft budget, covering revenue and expenditure under all headings (document WK 9306/2026 REV 1 + ADD 1). This discussion will shape the Council's position ahead of negotiations with the European Parliament later in the year. The meeting also includes a presentation of the Working Programme of the Presidency.
Under any other business, the committee will examine four items: a request from the Committee of the Regions for a transfer of appropriations (No INF 4/2026, under Article 29(1) and (2) of the Financial Regulation, dated 26 June 2026); seven requests from the European Court of Auditors for transfers of appropriations (Nos V/INF-01/T/26 to V/INF-07/C/26, also under Article 29(1) and (2) FR, dated 26 June 2026); a notification from the European Commission on the renewal of a Special Adviser (Controller of procedural guarantees) contract under Article 123(2) CEOS, dated 29 June 2026; and a notification from the European Council and the Council on the extension of a Special Adviser (Chair of the Disciplinary Board) contract under Article 123(2) CEOS, dated 2 July 2026.
The meeting format is 1+2 (one minister plus two officials per member state). The outcome of the budget discussion will feed into the Council's formal adoption of its position on the 2027 EU budget, expected later in the autumn.
