European Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Suica is on a two-day visit to Egypt starting 7 July 2026, according to a media advisory from the European External Action Service (EEAS). The visit aims to take stock of the EU-Egypt Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership, covering investment, economic reforms, research, innovation, and youth opportunities. Suica will also attend the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Secretariat and the handover of its Presidency to the European Parliament, underscoring the importance of parliamentary cooperation amid geopolitical uncertainty. Additionally, she will engage with young people alongside the Anna Lindh Foundation and EU MedBridge to discuss flagship initiatives under the Pact for the Mediterranean, including the Youth Parliamentary Assembly for the Mediterranean, the Mediterranean University, and the protection of shared cultural heritage. The visit reinforces the EU's commitment to deepening ties with Egypt and promoting regional stability and youth engagement in the Mediterranean region.
