EU High Representative/Vice-President Kaja Kallas visited Addis Ababa on 15 July 2026, meeting with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos to reaffirm the longstanding EU-Ethiopia partnership and explore deeper cooperation on shared priorities. The visit, announced by the European External Action Service on 20 July, also included a meeting with members of EuroCham Ethiopia to discuss promoting EU-Ethiopia trade and investment, as well as advancing the Global Gateway initiative.
