The European Commission has published a corrigendum correcting a typographical error in footnote 4 of Annex I to Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, as replaced by Regulation (EU) 2018/62, affecting maximum residue levels (MRLs) for certain grains. The correction, issued on 7 July 2026 under reference C(2026)4914, changes the wording from "grain without (traces of) remaining husk" to "grain with (traces of) remaining husks" for species where husk cannot be fully removed by threshing, such as barley, oats, spelt, buckwheat, and certain pseudocereals. The error appeared on page 27 of the original Spanish text published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 23 January 2018. The correction aligns the wording with the definition agreed at the 2016 meeting of the Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues (CCPR). The change ensures that operators applying MRLs for these grains apply the correct definition, which includes traces of husk. The corrigendum does not alter the substance of the regulation but rectifies a translation error that could have led to inconsistent application of MRLs. The correction is binding and applies retroactively to the original regulation's entry into force.
