The French president and Brigitte Macron were welcomed by Mgr Leonardo Sapienza, Regent of the Prefecture of the Pontifical Household. An audience followed with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, the first since the start of his pontificate. The meeting addressed the main issues in the France–Holy See relationship and the challenges raised by current international affairs. President Emmanuel Macron expressed France’s willingness to work with the Holy See for peace, dialogue and solidarity among peoples.
