Kirsten Joppe, Head of the European Union Partnership Mission in the Republic of Moldova (EUPM Moldova), was received by President Maia Sandu on 29 July 2026 for a courtesy meeting following her appointment as Head of Mission on 25 April 2026. The meeting reaffirmed the excellent cooperation between EUPM Moldova and the Moldovan authorities, as well as the Mission's commitment to supporting Moldova's efforts to strengthen its resilience, crisis management capacities, and ability to address hybrid threats, including cybersecurity and countering foreign information manipulation and interference.
EUPM Moldova is a civilian, non-executive mission established under the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy. It provides strategic advice and support to Moldovan institutions, contributing over the past three years to strengthening Moldova's security framework and aligning it with EU standards. The meeting underscored the importance of continued cooperation in addressing evolving security challenges, with Joppe expressing appreciation for the close partnership and reiterating the Mission's commitment to supporting Moldova's security and resilience objectives in line with the European Union's broader support for the country.
